Our client’s property had been extended a number of times which resulted in a disjointed floor plan & rear elevation. We were tasked with resolving the GF issues, creating a clean, well-considered rear elevation as well as a first-floor master suite.
The existing ground floor plan didn’t need a significant increase in size, a small infill to the floor plan was proposed to create a larger kitchen with the existing conservatory replaced with a pitched roof extension of the same footprint. The existing glazed extension did provide our clients home with both ceiling height and light, something they were keen to maintain. We, therefore, proposed a glazed gable end extension to retain both of these features.
We were also asked to create a master suite; extending the FF or utilising the loft space were considered however a FF addition helped resolve another of our client’s issues.
The property had been extended previously without a great deal of consideration which had created a mismatched rear elevation and roofline. We, therefore, proposed to extend one of the existing FF bedrooms over the previous GF single story extension, along with the new GF pitched roof allowed us to create a simple and refined roofline. For the FF extension, we proposed finishes to match the existing, with the GF receiving contemporary slim framed glazing and sections of render allowing it to stand out as a purposeful addition.
This project is currently in the process of planning and building regulations approval, we are very much looking forward to guiding our client through the next stages of their project and helping them to create a stunning family home.
